Andrea visit the cafe
While casually walking down the street, Andrea and her dad, Lars, were unexpectedly invited by Thomas, the previous owner, to see… his toilet with Donald Trump!
They couldn’t say “no” to such an offer!
From the manager to...
the owner?!
Soon enough, Andrea started working in the cafe. Some time later, she became the manager. Unfortunately, after some time Thomas was forced to give up the place, however, he made Andrea an offer - it was then, when she bought the cafe.
On the
queer mission
While always wanting to do something for the queer community in Aarhus, Andrea didn't have any specific plan for that. Becoming an owner of a cafe has changed it.
"KROMOSOM"
We all have chromosomes in our DNA. Each of them hold specific ‘instructions’ that make us unique. This is why our aim is to appreciate every single chromosome (dk: “kromosom”) that makes us who and how we are.

OUR MISSION
We are the management, consisting of Andrea as the over-all manager and lucky owner, Soni as the day-to-day manager and trusty janitor, Katrine (often referred to by their nickname Længste - or Long one) as the finance manager and treasurer, Lars as the bar- and purchasing manager, and last but definitely not least, Dicte as the PR- and SoMe manager.
All of us from the whole team of Kromosom, are very much looking forward to welcoming you!
WHOEVER YOU ARE
Kromosom is a diversity café-bar located in the heart of Aarhus. It is a little quirky
place with room for all of us sticking out of society’s many boxes.
Most important, however; it is a place where everyone can come just the way they are.
SAFE SPACE
Drinking beer or coffee, reading poetry or watching drag show, dancing or studying,
laughing or crying - the list is long.
But, whatever it is, and whoever you are - Kromosom is here to provide you with
a safe space.
OUR SECOND HOME
We live and breathe for this place, and do everything in our power to make sure that
everyone feels welcome.
We will go to great lengths to create and maintain a safe space, where anybody can come and be a
part of something bigger.
NO KROMOSOM WITHOUT PEOPLE
We want to and are able to facilitate a safe space, but the rest we can only create
together.
Everyone who visits Kromosom, is a part of making and shaping the place, into what it is.

We want to tell everyone that they matter for us, regardless of physical appearance and information written in their ID.

For sure you know Barbies! The dolls that almost everyone has played with, at least once. Incredibly famous, yet incredibly unhealthy and toxic - especially when it comes to body image they used to represent.
We want to raise awareness in terms of body shaming and say loudly “no” to everyone that criticises people based on their physical appearance. In Kromosom we respect you however you look.
